Pandemic: The Board Game App Reviews

Fun, challenging but doable

People complaining that this game is too hard must not be good at critical thinking. Sure, its tough and sometimes you get unlucky, but it can be beat. Ive beaten the game on all settings multiple times. Fun game, but I would have thought it would be more difficult for seven bucks.

Ms.

I loved the board game, and when you dont have any players in person, this is the perfect way to get your Pandemic fix with the bonus of well placed visual and audio effects. The only thing Im disappointed about is that I have not found any options to connect to an online multiplayer feature. Have I missed something? I think being able to play with your friends online would be an awesome feature for an already great game.

Love the game. App is glitchy.

I really like the board game version of Pandemic, but it kept crashing my battery meter to the point I had to delete it. I hope they fix it quickly. Ive never had a problem with the iPad version, though.

Crashing problem seems to be fixed

Previous version worked like a charm on my iPad mini. After 24 hours of it crashing at start screen this new version finally seems to be working.

Lost the expansion

Paid for the expansion lost it when I updated. Bring it back.

Virulent strain is cool, sound options are not

The new virulent strain pack is awesome and adds a great twist to the game. However, I used to be able to play my iTunes music or podcast while playing the game, and since the new update, I can only play the lame Pandemic background music. No one buys pandemic for the music! Please let me play my own music while playing the game!!

Requires online access?

The Virulent Strain IAP requires online access to use. Makes it worthless for me, which is a shame because I was excited to finally get it.

Faithful, battery hungry

This is a faithful reproduction of the board game for the Pandemic addicts. It drains the battery very, very quickly on my iPhone 6S, though.

Great game, SO glitchy

I played hundreds of games in the old version, my favorite app ever. This new version just crashes and crashes and crashes. Havent completed a game yet, win or lose.

Crashes

Update now causes it to crash on my iPad mini. It wont even get past the initial load screen. When working this is a 5 star game.

New version is terrible.

The new version crashes repeatedly during setup. Once the game gets started, it plays well. I also am unable to start a new game with either expansion if I dont have an internet connection. There is no logical reason for this restriction. Im most likely to be playing when I dont have an Internet connection, precisely because it didnt use to require an Internet connection.

Why oh why did I make the mistake of updating?

Ive been a fan of the board game since the first release and was thrilled with how well F2Z translated it to an app. Until the update, this used to be my favorite iPad game. I would have happily purchased the expansions, but taking away roles and levels that had previously been included and offering to sell them back as an expansion is a low blow.

LOVE THIS GAME!

Finally having Chinese version though Ive already known how to play this game and have played lots of times(both board game and the app). Still, very excited to understand completely for all the characters and events. I really love the art and UI design of this game. Well done F2Z!!!!!!

Requests for the Devs

1) allow for outside audio 2) add local game option via Bluetooth 3) allow for whole screen at all times option True to the tabletop version.

Very fun losing

I have not experienced the glitches other people have. I have had more fun losing this game again and again.

Previous version was great, but...

Now it constantly crashes on my iPad mini. Never had a problem before. Im sure the debs are aware of this by now, but this update rolled out 11 days ago. Lets get a work around already.

Addictive, but randomization needs serious work

Love this game. Addicted to it, and I play it all the time when I am able to. It really needs work with randomization of the infection deck. The deck almost always seems to result in a draw of the exact same city you hit with the epidemic card right after the intensify phase of the epidemic card. It happens too often for it to really be random. Otherwise this game is fantastic. Hoping to see an online multiplayer element added. It would be nice to play with people on the web.

Fun and Unique, but Needs Expansions

I know I say this after every update, but it is still true... this is a great game. It is one of, maybe, two board games in the App Store where you stop infections and save the world. Most others want you to start plagues and destroy the world. So, if you want something different (and less negative), this is a very well made game. Ive had a lot of fun with the solo co-op mode. My only two complaints about the game are: - It needs a different kind of expansion. For example, a new map such as a single continent (Europe, etc) instead of the whole planet. Or, maybe a Sci-Fi map such as a colonized Mars. - Please let us disable all the annoying animations. Most importantly, I do not need to see the cards dealt and cities infected at the start of every game. Ugh

Virulent Strain expansion adds new challenges and replayability

Now the epidemic cards give the diseases extra powers and abilities when they come out of the infection deck. Now theres so much more to watch out for when trying to save the world. Thank you for adding the Virulent Strain to the Pandemic app!

Pros / Cons of Pandemic...

Id like to offer my PROS and CONS review of the Pandemic App and its Addons for purchase. PROS: Pandemic for iPad is an outstanding recreation of the popular board game, that teaches you the rules as you play. The graphics are clean and crisp, while the fonts are easy to read. Game sounds are appropriate and welcoming to hear throughout game play, while the music can be heart racing and intense much like the Walking Dead TV series. The gameplay is identical to the board game, while the app keeps the cards random and prevents plays from forgetting all aspects of turn sequence (ie. forgetting to draw city cards). CONS: While the Pandemic App itself is somewhat reasonably priced. Whereas the "On the Brink" and "Virulent Strain Challenge" addons should have been one purchase price of $1.99, and not separately priced addons. Additionally, despite purchasing both addons, Im NOT able to use or select either of these pricey addons while NOT maintaining a connection to the Internet. CONCLUSION: While the Pandemic App is a one-of-a-kind game, I believe any App with Addons to a purchased through the App itself should not be allowed to be posted on Apples AppStore. NOT without a full disclosure to the consumer, warning that the App and/or its purchased Addons require a constant Internet connection in order to play and/or utilize the full functionality of the App, along with any purchased Addons. ~ZooL
